BuddyPress 1.9 is named “Sammy” in honor and memory of Sammy’s Pizza joint in Rhode Island, U.S.A where John James from BuddyPress spent some memorable time.
So, What’s New in BuddyPress 1.9
In this new version BuddyPress 1.9 the notification graduates to a full component. Notifications now comes with a complete new user interface to check past notifications.
Now adjust your BuddyPress navigation menu as per logged in or logged out users which is a really effective change because many BuddyPress users tried to achieve this earlier with some external plugins.
New Widgets
BuddyPress 1.9 also introduces three new widgets to make your BuddyPress community even better.
- Friends Widget: a list of recently active, popular, and newest friends of the displayed member.
- Log In Widget: adds a simple “Log In” form to your site.
- Sitewide Notices Widget: display Sitewide Notices from the Private Messaging component.
