I am going to teach you the secret I’ve used to download high quality, royalty free stock photos – for free.
My name is Darwin, I’m the owner of IndexWP.com and my team does a great job at running the site. I’m usually extremely busy but when there is something of value I can bring to you guys – I will write about it.
Before we begin, keep in mind that the photographers work just as hard as you and me. I’d use this method for testing the images only and when you’re happy with the final results of your page, please purchase the photos =)
Royalty Free Stock Photos
Go to your favorite stock photography site(mine is Fotolia.com) and search for the photo you want. In this example, I’ll use this one here. Copy the stock photo url.
1)When you find the URL of the image, make sure you right click the image and copy image URL.
2)It works better if you don’t use the comp image. Find the URL of the image you like without the watermarks.
Google Image Search
1)Go to images.google.com
2)Click on the camera Icon.
3)Drop in the photo url link you copied earlier and click the “search by image” button.
4)Add this string into the URL: -site:fotolia.com -site:shutterstock.com -site:dreamstime.com -site:123rf.com so it looks like the below:
What the “-” in the search string does is blocks results from those sites. Basically, you won’t see any of their watermarked images. I only added the 3 stock photography websites that I see but you can always add more.
5)Click on “Visually similar images”.
6)If you need larger sizes, click on search tools > images size > xxx.
7)You should now see results of the same stock photo (or close) without the watermarks. The majority of stock photos are hosted, purchased and used on multiple sites so there is no way one of these sites can come after you (for testing of course).
